A phone made specifically for conference call.

For over a year now, about a week or two before the Second Saturday event, we’ve gotten together over at TalkShoe. It’s that time again.

Planning conference call this Thursday

This Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 8-9 PM EDT at TalkShoe. We’d love for you to join us.

Why do we do this, you might ask? Three reasons immediately come to mind.

New Media Cincinnati Second Saturdays are a community effort put on by the community, and this is a great opportunity for the community to talk about the group and plan upcoming events. Logistically, it’s nice to know that someone other than yours truly is going to be taking charge of some aspect of the event to help make it run more smoothly.

Also, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on the previous event. What worked well? What didn’t work so well? How can we be better?

In addition, this is a great opportunity to set expectations for the upcoming event. We’ve changed things up from time to time, and this conference call is an opportunity to hear what’s going to happen. What are we going to talk about?

Finally, from time to time, I’ve used this call as an opportunity to share some independent music from a Greater Cincinnati artist or band. We’re very grateful to artists like Drew LaPlante, The Lions Rampant, Kelly Richey, and others for giving us permission to play their music.  I’ve mixed the music into the recorded call afterward and released it to the website. If you’re interested in having us share your music with the community like this, email daniel AT newmediacincinnati DOT com with details on how we can get it to play.

UPDATE: We had the call. Listen to what we talked about here (mp3, 54:00, 49.4 MB). Thanks to Drew LaPlante for letting us play his song “Mystery”.
