At last week’s Second Saturday event, we mentioned that the November event will be the last one for 2010. This is a great opportunity to reflect on what has happened over the past year and how we’ve changed through our involvement in this space. Last year when we did this, it was an inspiring discussion.
New Media Cincinnati Digital Awards
This year we are adding something more: New Media Cincinnati Digital Awards. This, the Steering Committee believes, is a great opportunity to recognize and encourage those who have done great work, not only in our community but also in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Here’s how it works.
Nominations may be made for one of the categories below. Please include a brief statement as to why you feel this individual deserves to be recognized and include links that may be helpful to support your reasoning. Supporting evidence is not required, but it does go a long way in helping the Steering Committee to understand your reasoning.
- You may nominate yourself
- Nominations will be accepted beginning Monday, October 11, 2010 through 5 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
- Nominations will be emailed to daniel AT newmediacincinnati DOT com
NMC Digital Native Award
Exemplary dedication to the practice and promotion of digital literacy and community building in the Greater Cincinnati area over the past year.
NMC Digital Giving First Award
Outstanding support toward members and potential members of the New Media Cincinnati community by sharing expertise and raising awareness through education and example both within meetings and during after-hours over the past year.
NMC Digital Go the Distance Dedication Award
Sincere dedication to attend New Media Cincinnati events. Person who has dedicated his or her time, energy, and resources to consistently travel a great distance to listen, learn, and contribute to New Media Cincinnati.
The New Media Cincinnati Steering Committee will evaluate all submissions. The winners will be awarded at the November Second Saturday event on November 13, 2010.

Daniel Johnson, Jr. founded New Media Cincinnati in 2007 to address the need for people in the Greater Cincinnati area connecting online to connect in-person.
