Second Saturday Recap – Colleagues or Competitors? (VIDEO)

Yesterday was another great New Media Cincinnati Second Saturday, in which people in the area passionate about social media and networking came together.  We held the event again at The Pub at Rookwood Mews in Cincinnati.  Based on the attendee list, about half the people who RSVP’d were attending for the first time. Do check it out to connect with people if you haven’t already done so.

Colleagues or Competitors?

Probably one of the least technical discussions we’ve had in some time, the topic I moderated was “Colleagues or Competitors.” Below is the series of videos from the UStream channel. See how many people you can recognize. As the host, I kept wondering if the topic was intriguing enough because people kept going back to their devices. It turns out they were just updating Twitter. Do check out the Twitterstream, following the #newmediacincy hashtag.

Extra Credit

Extra special thanks as usual go out to

  • Don Sceifers for running the UStream channel and making sure levels were okay
  • Tom Rockhold for bringing equipment to help make the audio in the room sound the best that it has ever been
  • Amy Hicks for making sure the other wireless mic was able to get around to everyone who contributed in the discussion

Looking Ahead

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the discussion, whether on the video or online or otherwise. You why this group is so valuable to our community and why it’s a pleasure to lead.

I’m sure pictures and other content will soon be showing up on Facebook, Flickr, and in other blog posts elsewhere.

Stay subscribed for details about the upcoming New Media Cincinnati Second Saturday for October 2009. It’s our 2-year anniversary! Should we plan something special? We’ll talk about this and more at the upcoming community planning call, to be held in the coming weeks.

What a great discussion! I'm glad I got to hear it, even though I was not able to be there.

Daniel, you are doing an amzing job keeping the group organized and moderating the discussions.

See you all next month- if not at another event somewhere in the city! :)
