Earlier I sent this message out to the group of folks who have already registered for Saturday’s meetup:

Greetings! I hope you have been able to enjoy the terrific weather we’ve been having.

It looks like we’re on track to have another great turnout for next Saturday’s meetup.  I’d like to bring some things to your attention as we get ready for it:

  1. We all have much to learn and much to share. “With great power comes great responsibility.”  We need someone to speak on a topic and/or lead a discussion for the next meetup.  Please see http://newmediacincinnati.wetpaint.com/page/Suggest+a+Topic/Speaker for a list of suggested topics and speakers. I would love to have 3 or 4 5-minute “JOLT” presentations where you talk about a certain topic.  This would leave the door open for further discussion as we break up and do the “free for all” networking thing afterward.  The first 4 people to respond with topics burning on their hearts will get the floor.
  2. We don’t currently have a projector and/or screen for the group to use on an ongoing basis. Please keep that in mind as you consider your presentation/discussion.
  3. Last month we streamed the meetup to the internet, and the audio and video quality left a lot to be desired.  As I sat through the entire video, I realized that, in order to continue this, we need a better way to capture audio and video.  The stream does not have to operate through my Lenovo laptop; I’m willing to allow the stream through someone else’s machine. Get in touch if you have ideas and are willing to help make this work.
  4. This group does not operate in a vacuum with respect to other groups meeting up in the Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky areas.  I would like to start keeping a running list of ongoing events. If you are aware of any of these, please let me know so we can get the word out this Saturday.
  5. We need someone (or a couple of people) to take over the role as “secretary”. This role involves going around and getting everyone’s contact information – information that they would not mind being shared in a blog post at the newmediacincinnati.com website.  This should certainly be done in at minimum as a textual post – I would give this/these individuals accounts at the blog to write up the posts – but it could also be supplemented by an audio recording of everyone introducing themselves. (Remember the iRiver introductions from last year?). Let me know if you are interested in taking over this role.
  6. http://newmediacincinnati.com is now a WordPress blog.  Expect more announcements, etc., along with archives of older content to become available in the coming months.
  7. Sponsorship: I am actively looking for sponsors of future meetups.  If you or someone you know would be interested in sponsoring a meetup, get in touch: daniel at newmediacincinnati dot com

Finally, let me just express once again how excited and grateful I am to be a part of such a great group.  If I can help you out further in some way, let me know.
Make it a great day!

I would be ok for doing a presentation if you think it would fit. I added it to the other site, lmk

@Christopher: We’ll keep you in mind for a future meetup.

@Heath: If you can distill what you want to say down to about 5 minutes, you’re in.
